I believe in a strong public education system at all levels, ensuring stable funding and equal opportunities for everyone. We need to do some work to clean up our education budget and make sure money is getting where it needs to go, our students, teachers, and support staff. Additionally, I support making high-quality libraries and information systems accessible to the public. By investing in education, we can empower our communities, foster innovation, and prepare our children for a bright future.
We need to work with city and county governments to build up services in our communities, especially outside the largest cities. There is a distinct lack of shelters for those experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, food shelves, and help centers in our exurb and rural areas. We need to build these up so we can take care of those in need. Additionally, affordable housing for all Minnesotans is essential, and we need to assist local governments in modernizing zoning laws and working with developers to build housing of all types.
I support nationally funded, community-based healthcare that is comprehensive and affordable for everyone. Ensuring children receive the services they need for a healthy start in life is a priority. Additionally, I advocate for accessible mental health programs and services, both institutional and outpatient, that offer equal access, continuity of care, and protect patient rights. By focusing on these areas, we can create a healthier, more equitable society.
I believe in opposing unnecessary government regulations and the misuse of government agencies for political purposes. It's important to ensure that government information is publicly available and to enforce standards of ethical conduct and accountability for elected officials. By upholding these principles, we can promote transparency, integrity, and trust in our government.
We should preserve and protect law abiding citizens rights to firearms for hunting, sport, and protection. We also need to enact and enforce laws that will keep firearms out of the hands of those in danger to themselves or others. Lastly, we need to have proper firearm handling training for everyone to help prevent accidents.
From a personal stance abortion should be used to protect the life, safety, and sanity of the mother. However, the exact details of that are too complex to blanket across all people. So, it should be an ethical and moral decision between a woman and her doctor and the government should stay out of it. The best we can do is to provide proper sex education to help prevent accidental pregnancies' in the first place.
We need a better system of mass transit, especially in areas outside the cities. Not only will this help people who are unable to drive, it will also help the environment and traffic congestion on our roads. This means we need to add infrastructure for commuter trains, busses, and walking/biking paths between them.
Tax reform needs to be done to make sure the top 1% are paying their fair share both personally and as a business.
Everyone should have the same opportunities and chances regardless of their race, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion or any other such factor. This means providing equity until the institutional systems are fixed.
We need to do all we can to protect our environment and heal the damage we have already done. However, we must be careful to not detrimentally impact our laborers. Changing from fossil fuels to green energy and sustainable mining practices require not only changing of equipment, but also training for workers.
Voters are frustrated by increasing divisions and extremism in our politics, partisan gridlock preventing action on critical issues and too many elections where candidates win without majority support; Ranked Choice Voting is a simple, commonsense change to the ballot, but one that is well-suited to meet these challenges.
